Choosing flowers for a funeral is a task nobody wants, usually at the worst possible time. This short guide covers what people most often ask us, so you can make the choice without any added worry.
The main types of tribute
Casket sprays sit on top of the coffin and are traditionally chosen by the closest family. They range from a simple single-ended spray to large arrangements in the person's favourite colours.
Wreaths are the classic circular tribute, suitable from any friend or family member. The circle stands for continuing love, though most people simply choose the flowers and colours that feel right.
Posies and baskets are smaller and softer, often sent by friends, neighbours and colleagues. They also suit being taken home afterwards by the family.
Personal tributes, from hearts to bespoke pieces, we make to order. If you have something particular in mind, talk to us and we will tell you honestly what works.
Who sends what
There is no strict rule, and no one will judge a kind gesture. Traditionally the coffin flowers come from immediate family and everyone else sends a wreath, posy or basket, or makes a donation where the family has asked for that instead. If the notice says family flowers only, respect it and consider a card or a donation.
The practical part, handled
Tell us the funeral director and the date, and we do the rest. We deliver tributes directly to funeral directors across Winchester at the time they need them, and we double-check names and timings so nothing is left to chance. That part is our job, not yours.
If you would rather talk it through, call us on 01962 865694. We have helped Winchester families with funeral flowers for over thirty years, and we will help you get it right.
